Boyhood Sexual Abuse

Thousands of childhoods are stolen each year by a sexual predator in the guise of a relative, a friend, a coach, a priest. And most of the victims…don’t tell. But based on statistics, this much is known: It is estimated that one in six boys is sexually molested by the age of 16, according to Richard Gartner in his book, Betrayed as Boys, 1999.

This tragic statistic is compounded by cultural perceptions and expectations: boys are taught ‘not to rat, not to cry, not to feel’ which can lead to torturous adult years marked by deep anger, depression, rage and addiction.
